State Fair of Texas 2026: Free Admission Returns for Dallas ISD Teens

Must read

Dallas ISD high schoolers just got a reason to circle 2026 on their calendars. The State Fair of Texas announced it will resume offering free admission to Dallas ISD students in grades 9-12, reversing course after discontinuing the program for the upcoming 2025 fair.

The revival comes through a partnership with Dallas Parks and Recreation as part of the Teen All Access Pass program, which will grant thousands of Dallas teenagers complimentary entry to the iconic fall event at Fair Park when it returns in 2026, according to reports.

Reversal Brings Relief

The decision marks a significant policy shift for the State Fair, which had previously announced it would stop providing free tickets to high school students for the 2025 event. Fair officials indicated they would “happily participate” in the city’s Teen All Access Pass initiative, restoring a benefit many families had come to rely on.

Why the change of heart? While specific reasons weren’t detailed, the move aligns with the fair’s longstanding educational mission. The State Fair has traditionally emphasized accessibility for Texas students through various programs.

“The State Fair of Texas is proud to offer complimentary admission to students and teachers of public, private, and charter schools in Texas,” reads the organization’s website about its School Education Program, though registration for the 2025 version of that program has already closed.

Part of Broader Initiative

The free admission will be facilitated through Dallas’s Teen All Access Pass program, a city initiative designed to increase youth access to cultural and recreational opportunities. The State Fair joins other venues and attractions participating in the program.

For Dallas families, the announcement represents welcome financial relief. With standard admission tickets often costing $15-25 per person, a family trip to the fair can quickly become expensive when factoring in food, rides, and other attractions.

The timing of the announcement — coming well over a year before the 2026 fair — gives families plenty of notice to plan ahead, though they’ll need to navigate the 2025 fair without the student discount benefit.

Corny dogs and midway games will have to wait, but for Dallas ISD high schoolers, 2026 just got a little brighter.
