Ken Paxton to Headline Turning Point USA Event at UNT in 2025

Must read

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is set to headline yet another conservative campus event, this time bringing his message of “truth and freedom” to the University of North Texas next fall.

Paxton will speak at a Turning Point USA event hosted by UNT’s chapter on November 10, 2025, in Denton, according to a statement released by his office. The event continues Paxton’s recent string of appearances with the conservative student organization across Texas campuses.

In announcing his participation, Paxton didn’t mince words about his views on academia. “The Left, which includes many radical professors and university administrators, has tried to silence and even punish young conservatives for speaking out for their beliefs,” the attorney general said. “I am honored to join the UNT Turning Point chapter to continue to show these conservatives that they are not alone.”

The event will be open to the public, though students will receive preferred seating — a common practice for campus speaking engagements that typically draws a mix of supporters and critics.

Why Turning Point USA? The organization, founded by Charlie Kirk in 2012, has grown into one of the most prominent conservative youth organizations in the country, often attracting high-profile Republican speakers. Its chapters frequently position themselves as counterweights to what they describe as liberal dominance in higher education.

Paxton’s remarks about “courageous young patriots” fighting for “truth and freedom” reflect the organization’s messaging that conservative students face hostility on college campuses. “I look forward to both encouraging and being encouraged by these courageous young patriots at UNT,” he added.

Campus conservatives gaining momentum

The timing of the announcement — more than a year before the actual event — suggests both Paxton and the organization are looking to build anticipation and potentially draw attention to conservative campus activism well ahead of the 2026 midterm election cycle.

Turning Point USA has expanded its presence across Texas universities in recent years, sometimes amid controversy over its confrontational tactics and messaging. The UNT chapter represents just one of many that have established footholds at public and private institutions throughout the state.

For Paxton, the campus appearance adds to his growing portfolio as a culture warrior within the Republican Party, particularly on issues involving education and free speech. His office has increasingly positioned itself as a defender of conservative viewpoints in academic settings.

As the date approaches, it remains to be seen whether the event will generate the kind of protests that have accompanied some conservative speakers on college campuses. But one thing’s clear — Texas’s top legal officer isn’t shying away from the front lines of America’s campus culture wars.
