2 North Texas Residents Win $1 Million Texas Lottery Prizes Days Apart

Must read

Lady Luck has been making the rounds in North Texas, with two residents each claiming $1 million lottery prizes within days of each other — one from a scratch-off ticket in Lewisville and another from a Powerball drawing in Dallas.

The Lewisville winner, who chose to remain anonymous, struck gold with the aptly named “$1,000,000 Ca$h!” scratch-off ticket purchased at Deer Run Food Mart on Round Grove Road, according to lottery officials who confirmed the win this week.

Meanwhile, a Dallas-based trust claimed the second million-dollar prize after matching five white balls in the August 13 Powerball drawing. That lucky ticket was purchased at Sam Beer Grill Grocery on South Hampton Road in Dallas, lottery records show.

Beating the Odds

What are the chances? For the “$1,000,000 Ca$h!” scratch game, they’re actually better than you might think — with overall odds of winning any prize at 1 in 3.99. Of course, the odds of hitting that coveted million-dollar jackpot are considerably steeper.

The scratch game itself boasts more than $91.5 million in total prizes across all tickets in circulation, making it one of the more substantial prize pools in the Texas Lottery’s current lineup of games.

The Texas Lottery has been particularly active lately. In addition to these two major wins, the regular Texas Lotto drawing last Saturday featured winning numbers 1, 13, 17, 24, 27, and 32, as noted by lottery officials.

Neither of the million-dollar winners has publicly shared plans for their newfound wealth, though the Lewisville winner’s decision to remain anonymous follows a common pattern among major lottery winners who prefer to avoid the publicity — and sometimes complications — that can come with such windfalls.

For lottery dreamers throughout North Texas, these back-to-back wins might seem like lightning striking twice. But that’s precisely how the lottery works — completely random chance that occasionally clusters winners in unexpected ways.

And while these two fortunate North Texans didn’t hit the ultimate multi-million dollar jackpots, a cool million is still life-changing money for most — especially when it arrives with the scratch of a ticket or a lucky number combination.
