North Texas to Host Largest 2026 World Cup Events: Economic & Security Boost

Must read

North Texas is about to become the epicenter of the soccer universe, with federal officials confirming it will host the largest World Cup footprint of any city during the 2026 tournament.

The White House World Cup Task Force recently visited the region to coordinate security measures and funding arrangements for what promises to be a massive international event. With nine matches at AT&T Stadium, the International Broadcast Center, and what’s expected to be the largest fan festival in the country, the Dallas-Fort Worth area is preparing for an unprecedented influx of visitors, athletes and media.

“Everything is bigger in Texas. Well, no other site has nine games,” Andrew Giuliani told local officials during the visit. “The fact that you guys are hosting the IBC – the International Broadcast Center. Fair Park, I think it’s gonna be the largest fan fest of the 11 fan fests here in the United States. I think it’s gonna be an unbelievable example to international visitors, I think also to Americans.”

Just how big will this be? FC Dallas Chairman Clark Hunt explained the scale: “With the good fortune we have here, Dallas Stadium will have nine matches which is over 700,000 tickets. Fan fest down in Fair Park should do double that. Almost 1.5 million visitors.”

Economic Windfall Expected

The North Texas FIFA World Cup 26 Organizing Committee projects a local economic impact of $1.5 to $2.1 billion. That’s just a fraction of the national economic boost, with the White House Task Force estimating the tournament will generate $47.6 billion in gross output, contribute $26.8 billion to GDP, and create over 290,000 jobs across the country, according to the official White House website.

Behind the scenes, coordination between federal and local officials has been intensive. “We have been working hand-in-hand with the White House task force — meeting with them every Wednesday, actually,” a local organizing committee representative stated.

Security Takes Center Stage

Security, predictably, remains a top priority. President Trump met with the White House Task Force and announced more than $600 million in grants distributed to the 11 U.S. host cities. These funds will support advanced screening technologies, drone systems, and counter-UAS (unmanned aircraft systems) capabilities.

“He’s fantastic,” one task force member said of the coordinator. “And Nick has been a rock star in facilitating all of our meetings, getting everybody together, and making sure that we’re prepared to host this event…. We put out over $600 million worth of grants to the 11 host cities that they’ll have the advantage to partner on technologies and screening technologies, drone technology, counter UAS as well will be implemented,” according to a recorded statement.

The Department of State is also heavily involved in preparations, particularly regarding the international aspects of the tournament, with visa processing expected to be thorough but efficient, as indicated by their coordination with the White House Task Force.

Media Central

What about the media operation? The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center will transform into a global media hub, hosting approximately 3,500 journalists from around the world. This International Broadcast Center will serve as the nerve center for the tournament’s worldwide television coverage, reports indicate.

For North Texas, a region already steeped in sports culture, this represents an unprecedented opportunity to showcase itself on the world stage. The challenge now lies in the execution – can the region deliver the seamless experience promised to the expected millions of visitors?

With weekly coordination meetings already underway and substantial federal backing secured, officials appear confident. But the clock is ticking. When the world arrives in 2026, North Texas will either cement its reputation as a premier global event destination or face the harsh spotlight of international scrutiny.
