McKinney ISD Athletic Trainer Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of Student
A McKinney North High School athletic trainer is behind bars after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. Lindsay Post, 35, was arrested Wednesday following allegations that have sent shockwaves through the North Texas school district.
According to authorities, Post faces two second-degree felony charges: sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between educator and student. The allegations involve what police described as “inappropriate text messages and/or conduct” between Post and a student at McKinney North High School, where she worked as an athletic trainer, as confirmed by local officials.
McKinney ISD officials learned of the allegations on Tuesday and moved quickly. The district reported that they immediately contacted state education boards and local law enforcement upon becoming aware of the situation.
Multiple Schools Potentially Affected
Post’s role extended beyond McKinney North High School. District officials indicated that she also provided athletic training support to Cockrill Middle School and Scott Johnson Middle School, raising questions about the scope of the investigation.
The arrest comes at a particularly sensitive time for school districts across Texas, which have seen several similar cases in recent months. What makes this case especially concerning? Post held a position of trust as an athletic trainer, giving her regular access to students in potentially vulnerable situations.
Her athletic trainer license in Texas wasn’t set to expire until November 14, 2025, though her employment status with the district following the arrest remains unclear.
Legal Representation and Reporting Resources
The family of the alleged victim isn’t navigating this situation alone. They’ve hired Dallas attorney Paul Herz to represent them, as noted by CBS News. Herz brings relevant experience to the case, as he’s also representing families in the Caleb Elliott investigation in nearby Celina ISD.
“These cases require careful handling and sensitivity,” said a source familiar with similar investigations who requested anonymity. “The impact on students and families can be devastating and long-lasting.”
McKinney ISD has emphasized that anyone with information relevant to the case should come forward. Reports can be made to the McKinney Police Department, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services at 1-800-252-5400, or directly to the McKinney ISD Title IX Coordinator, Alana Chisum, via email at [email protected], the district stated.
As the legal process unfolds, school communities at all three campuses where Post worked are left grappling with the allegations and their implications. For many parents, the case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of open communication with their children about appropriate adult-student relationships.
