Thousands of teething toys sold on Amazon have been recalled after dozens of choking incidents, federal regulators announced Tuesday. The toys, designed for babies during a vulnerable developmental stage, violate mandatory safety standards and pose potentially deadly risks.
Choking Hazard Prompts Urgent Recall
Approximately 6,800 Yetonamr Pull String Teething Toys sold between June and October 2025 have been recalled due to dangerous design flaws. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has identified that the silicone strings on these toys are smaller than permitted by federal safety standards, creating a serious choking hazard for infants.
The CPSC is aware of 32 incidents where babies experienced choking while using these products. “The silicone strings can reach the back of the throat and become lodged, creating a risk of respiratory distress, a serious choking hazard and death,” the agency warned in its safety alert.
Priced between $10 and $16, these toys were exclusively sold on Amazon’s marketplace by seller Longyanguiheng. The online retail giant has since removed the items from its platform.
Safety Standards Violated
What makes this recall particularly troubling? The toys were manufactured in direct violation of mandatory toy safety standards established to protect young children.
“The silicone strings can reach the back of the throat and become lodged, posing a risk of respiratory distress, serious choking hazard and death,” the CPSC stated in its official recall notice. The agency’s findings highlight ongoing challenges with monitoring imported children’s products sold through online marketplaces.
This isn’t the first time baby products sold on e-commerce platforms have faced scrutiny for safety violations. Consumer advocates have long raised concerns about the difficulty of enforcing safety standards on products sold by third-party sellers through major online retailers.
The teething toys’ silicone strings fail to meet the size requirements mandated by federal regulations, which are designed specifically to prevent choking hazards in products intended for young children.
What Parents Should Do
Authorities are urging parents and caregivers to immediately stop using these teething toys and to contact the seller for refund information. The recall affects all Yetonamr Pull String Teething Toys distributed during the four-month period.
Consumer safety experts recommend that parents carefully inspect all teething toys for potential hazards, including small parts that could detach or strings that could pose strangulation or choking risks.
The CPSC has emphasized that this recall underscores the importance of purchasing children’s products that comply with U.S. safety standards, particularly for items designed for infants and toddlers who are most vulnerable to choking hazards.
As online shopping continues to dominate the retail landscape, this incident serves as a stark reminder that convenience sometimes comes with hidden risks – especially when it comes to products designed for the youngest and most vulnerable consumers.
