Balch Springs Shooting: 2 Juveniles Injured, Police Chase Ends in Arrests

Must read

Two juveniles were injured in a shooting Friday night in Balch Springs, leading to a police chase and multiple arrests after the suspects fled the scene in a black Cadillac, authorities said.

The incident unfolded shortly before 9 p.m. at 4608 Pioneer Road, where officers responded to reports of gunfire. When police arrived, they discovered evidence of a shooting, including several shell casings scattered across the scene.

Police Chase Leads to Arrests

Investigators quickly identified a black Cadillac as the vehicle involved in the shooting. When officers attempted to stop the car, the driver sped away, triggering a pursuit through the area. The chase ended only after the Department of Public Safety stepped in to help Balch Springs police bring the vehicle to a halt.

“Officers said they found the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the vehicle fled, leading to a police chase,” according to law enforcement officials.

What happened next revealed the full scope of the situation. Inside the car, police found three juveniles — including one who had been shot in the arm. That injured youth was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, a second shooting victim arrived at the hospital later, though details about their connection to the incident weren’t immediately clear.

Both victims are expected to recover from their injuries.

Multiple Charges Filed

The juvenile driver now faces serious charges, including possession of an unlawful handgun and possession of narcotics. A second juvenile passenger was also arrested on drug possession charges.

Could this incident be connected to other recent violence in the area? Just this February, another shooting occurred outside a Balch Springs bank, leaving one person critically injured. That case involved an FBI investigation, though authorities haven’t indicated any connection to Friday’s shooting.

Balch Springs police said they were continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Friday’s shootings. “Several shell casings were located at scene,” they noted, suggesting a potentially chaotic exchange of gunfire.

The names of those arrested haven’t been released due to their status as minors. The investigation remains active as detectives work to piece together exactly what triggered the violence that left two young people wounded and three in custody.
