BBWOO Baby Loungers Recalled on Amazon for Deadly Infant Hazards

Must read

Nearly 12,000 baby loungers sold on Amazon have been recalled due to serious safety hazards that could lead to infant injury or death, federal regulators announced this week.

The BBWOO Baby Loungers, which were sold by LSY Direct on Amazon from July 2024 through November 2025 for between $34 and $39, violate mandatory safety standards for infant sleep products in multiple ways, creating potentially deadly risks for babies.

“These violations create an unsafe sleeping environment and can cause death or serious injury,” safety officials warned in their announcement of the recall.

What’s Wrong with These Loungers?

The Consumer Product Safety Commission found that the loungers fail to meet several critical safety requirements. Their sides are too low to properly contain an infant, the openings at the foot end are wider than regulations allow, and the products lack a proper stand — all creating fall and entrapment hazards that could prove fatal for young babies.

The recalled products are foam sleeping pads with padded bumpers, covered in cloth with a distinctive ribbon tie at one end. Each lounger has a model number printed on a tracking label stitched to the outside cover.

This isn’t the first time baby loungers have come under scrutiny. The CPSC recently identified similar safety violations in Joyful Journeys Baby Loungers, recalling approximately 9,300 units for comparable failures to meet mandatory standards.

What Should Parents Do?

If you’ve purchased one of these loungers, the guidance is clear and immediate: stop using it. Now.

Consumers are instructed to not only cease using the product but to destroy it completely. That means removing all foam and pads, then cutting the cover, foam, and pad in half. Once destroyed, parents should email photos of the dismantled lounger to [email protected] to receive a full refund from LSY Direct.

The recall affects approximately 11,900 units that were sold exclusively through Amazon’s marketplace. Parents who aren’t sure if their baby lounger is included in the recall should check the model number on the product’s tracking label.

Safe sleep environments remain a critical concern for infant safety experts. These loungers represent just the latest in a series of infant sleep products that have failed to meet increasingly stringent federal safety standards designed to prevent the roughly 3,400 sleep-related infant deaths that occur annually in the United States.

For parents looking to replace these recalled items, experts recommend sticking to products that explicitly meet current federal safety standards — and remember that the safest sleep environment for babies remains a firm, flat surface free of pillows, blankets or other soft items.
