Land Rover Classic is introducing a new infotainment upgrade that brings Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities to select L322 Range Rover models, modernizing the luxury SUV’s technological features while maintaining its classic appeal.
The upgrade, which seamlessly integrates with the vehicle’s original touchscreen system, is exclusively available for Range Rovers manufactured between 2010 and 2012. This limitation exists because the retrofit specifically works with the touchscreen infotainment systems installed during those production years.
“The retrofit retains all the existing functionalities – including the superb sound quality of the original audio system,” according to TopSpeed’s coverage of the upgrade. The enhancement allows owners to access modern navigation options like Google Maps, Waze, and Apple Maps, along with music streaming services and audiobook platforms.
Land Rover Classic’s engineering team has ensured a smooth transition between the original interface and new features. “Classic engineers have also worked hard to ensure clients can seamlessly transfer between the legacy user interface and the new Apple and Android functions,” as noted in Top Gear’s report.
Currently, the upgrade is only available in markets outside the United States. American customers hoping to modernize their Range Rovers will have to wait, as Land Rover representatives have confirmed the system won’t be offered in the U.S. market due to potential tariff complications that would significantly impact pricing.
While the exact cost of the upgrade hasn’t been announced, Land Rover is offering a two-year JLR aftermarket parts and accessories warranty on all components of the system, providing peace of mind for owners considering the modification.
