A 17-year-old Wisconsin teenager faces multiple charges after allegedly killing his parents and living with their bodies for weeks before being apprehended 800 miles away from the crime scene.
Nikita Casap has been charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide, two counts of hiding a corpse, theft of property over $10,000, and two counts of misappropriating ID to obtain money in connection with the deaths of his mother and stepfather, according to court documents.
Prosecutors allege that Casap shot his stepfather, Donald Mayer, in the back of the head before attending school the following day. The bodies of both victims were discovered in their Waukesha home after concerned relatives contacted authorities.
During the investigation, law enforcement uncovered evidence of international communications. “Casap was in contact with someone in Russian or Romanian,” investigators revealed, though the nature of these communications remains unclear.
The case took a significant step forward on April 9 when Casap appeared for his preliminary hearing. Following testimony, the presiding judge found probable cause to believe a felony had been committed and ordered the case to proceed to trial.
“Meticulous investigation efforts emphasizing our dedication to community safety and justice,” stated law enforcement officials involved in the case.
The prosecution, led by Waukesha County District Attorney Lesli Boese, presented evidence suggesting that Casap continued to reside in the home for an extended period after the alleged murders, managing daily activities while the bodies remained on the premises.
As the case moves toward trial, investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the suspect’s activities in the weeks following the incident.
