Must read

A 27-year-old man has been charged with capital murder following a deadly double stabbing near Deep Ellum that left two people dead early Saturday morning.

Dallas police arrested Sergio Naffarratte after what authorities described as a fight that escalated into fatal violence in the 400 block of North Good Latimer Expressway and nearby 2600 block of Floyd Street, just east of downtown Dallas, according to reports.

The victims, identified as 28-year-old Alyshah Punjani and 30-year-old Adrian Williams Jr., were rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to their injuries. Meanwhile, Naffarratte was treated for minor cuts before being booked into Dallas County jail on two counts of capital murder, police confirmed.

Early Morning Violence

What exactly triggered the deadly confrontation? Authorities haven’t released specific details about the circumstances leading to the stabbings, which occurred during pre-dawn hours when the popular entertainment district typically sees late-night crowds thinning out.

The incident marks another violent episode in an area that has struggled with safety concerns in recent years, despite efforts to increase police presence and security measures.

Naffarratte’s booking came after he received medical attention for what were described as minor injuries sustained during the altercation. The charges he faces — capital murder — represent the most serious offense in the Texas criminal code and potentially carry the death penalty if prosecutors choose to pursue it.

The area where the stabbings occurred sits at the edge of Deep Ellum, a district known for its vibrant nightlife, restaurants, and music venues that attract thousands of visitors each weekend.

Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and speak with witnesses. Police haven’t yet disclosed whether surveillance footage captured any portion of the incident or if other individuals were involved in the initial confrontation.

For now, families of Punjani and Williams are left to grapple with an unimaginable loss as the case against Naffarratte begins its journey through the criminal justice system.
