A family of four has been left homeless and two elderly residents injured after a devastating house fire tore through their Duncanville home early Thursday morning, destroying a residence they had called home for more than two decades.
The blaze erupted just before 5 a.m. on February 3, 2026, near the intersection of Michaels and Dawson drives, according to information gathered at the scene. Fire crews rushed to battle the flames, which had already engulfed much of the structure by the time first responders arrived.
Family Displaced, Elderly Injured
Two elderly residents suffered burn injuries in the fire and were transported for medical treatment. Their conditions haven’t been released. The homeowner, who was on site speaking with emergency personnel, expressed fears that his two dogs remained unaccounted for and likely didn’t survive the inferno.
The family group consisted of the homeowner, his brother, and their two elderly parents — one of whom is deaf, creating additional challenges during the emergency. After 22 years in the same house, they now face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from scratch.
What began as an ordinary night quickly transformed into tragedy. FOX 4 news crews, who happened to be in the area working on an unrelated story, witnessed the fire’s intensity firsthand and captured footage of the response effort.
Neighboring Home Damaged
The flames were so intense they spread beyond the primary residence, causing damage to at least one neighboring home. Fire crews remained on scene well past 5:30 a.m., working to fully extinguish hot spots and prevent further spread.
“It’s completely devastating,” one neighbor could be heard saying as fire crews continued their work. “They’ve been here longer than most of us on this block.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Fire officials haven’t yet released an official statement on potential origins of the blaze, and formal identification of all residents remains pending professional confirmation.
This marks the third significant residential fire in the Dallas-Fort Worth area this month, following incidents in Arlington and Mesquite that collectively displaced eleven people.
Local disaster relief organizations are expected to assist the family with immediate needs as they face the difficult process of rebuilding after losing nearly everything in a matter of minutes.
