Former Disney star Christy Carlson Romano reveals positive cancer screening results
Christy Carlson Romano, the 41-year-old actress known for her roles in Disney’s “Even Stevens” and as the voice of “Kim Possible,” has revealed she received positive results from a cancer screening and will undergo further testing.
Romano shared the news on social media, expressing cautious hope about her condition. “Hopefully it’s something easy to treat,” she said while awaiting her next steps, which include a scheduled PET scan to determine the extent of any potential disease.
The actress, who now lives in Austin, Texas, underwent cancer screening alongside her husband Brendan Rooney. While his results came back negative, Romano’s test indicated possible stageable cancer, prompting the need for additional diagnostic procedures. The timing of Romano’s announcement comes just days after the death of actor James Van Der Beek, who passed away at 48 following a battle with colorectal cancer. Van Der Beek, best known for his role in “Dawson’s Creek,” had been diagnosed earlier in 2024.
Romano had met with Van Der Beek and his family prior to his death and expressed profound respect for him. “He’s a pillar of our community in Texas,” she noted, highlighting the personal impact his passing had on her.
