Fort Worth Man Arrested in Fatal Apartment Shooting: Capital Murder Charge Filed

Must read

Fort Worth police have arrested a suspect in connection with a deadly December shooting outside an apartment complex that claimed the life of a 24-year-old man, authorities announced Wednesday.

Kareem Hardin, 30, was taken into custody Tuesday on an outstanding capital murder warrant linked to the December 12 shooting in the 6400 block of Wildwood Circle. The victim, Lawrence Homan, was shot in the chest and later died at a hospital, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, which confirmed his identity.

What began as a routine passenger drop-off turned deadly in seconds. Police say after a female passenger exited Homan’s vehicle, two unidentified men approached the car and attempted to enter it. During the confrontation, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot Homan, who was behind the wheel. Investigators haven’t yet revealed whether Homan was specifically targeted.

Questions Remain

Authorities have described the shooting as an “isolated incident,” but haven’t disclosed a potential motive. The case has left neighbors on edge, though police insist there’s no broader threat to the community.

Hardin’s arrest comes nearly two months after the shooting, but details about how investigators identified him as a suspect remain scarce. “Officers arrested 30-year-old Kareem Hardin on Tuesday on an outstanding capital murder warrant,” Fort Worth police stated in their announcement.

A second suspect? That question lingers as police have provided no public information about the possible accomplice mentioned in their initial account of two men approaching Homan’s vehicle before the shooting.

The Fort Worth Police Department is still actively investigating the case and has asked anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Tarrant County Crime Stoppers for those reluctant to contact police directly.

As Hardin faces capital murder charges — among the most serious in the Texas criminal code — Lawrence Homan’s family awaits answers about why their loved one’s life was cut tragically short just before the holiday season.
