A man was gunned down in broad daylight Friday afternoon in Fort Worth, leading to a swift arrest by police SWAT officers.
The shooting occurred around 3:49 p.m. on January 17, 2026, when Fort Worth police responded to reports of gunfire in the 2000 block of Watauga Road. Officers arrived to find a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body, who was quickly transported to a local hospital but later pronounced dead.
What happened? According to investigators, the victim was simply walking when a dark-colored vehicle pulled alongside him. The suspect then fired multiple shots before speeding away from the scene. Homicide detectives later identified 24-year-old Saul Bosquez as the alleged shooter.
The Fort Worth Police Department’s SWAT team later served a warrant and took Bosquez into custody without incident. Authorities haven’t yet revealed a potential motive for the shooting or any connection between the suspect and victim.
Despite the public nature of the crime, investigators believe this was an isolated incident. “There is no ongoing threat to the public,” the department stated in their release about the case.
The victim’s identity remains withheld pending notification of family members. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death, though the circumstances of the shooting have been preliminarily described by police.
This marks another instance of gun violence in Fort Worth, though police were quick to emphasize the targeted nature of this particular incident. The investigation remains active as detectives work to establish a complete timeline of events leading up to the fatal encounter.
