Dallas residents planning their year-end celebrations just got a holiday gift: free transit rides on New Year’s Eve, courtesy of Coors Light. The promotion offers complimentary service on all DART transportation modes from 6 p.m. until the end of service for the first 10,500 riders who enter the code COORSNYE25 in the GoPass app.
The free rides are part of Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s modified holiday schedule, which will maintain regular weekday service on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, while shifting to Sunday or weekend schedules on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The New Year’s Eve promotion covers all DART services, including buses, rail lines, the Silver Line, GoLink, Dallas Streetcar, and Paratransit Services, as well as TRE service between EBJ Union Station and CentrePort/DFW Airport Station.
A Tradition of Safe Holiday Travel
This isn’t Coors Light’s first rodeo when it comes to promoting responsible transportation. The company’s Free Rides program has provided nearly 10 million complimentary public transit rides nationwide since its inception in 1988. The initiative has grown substantially in recent years, with 445,000 free rides offered in 2024 — representing a 25% increase from 2023’s total of 361,000.
“We’re proud to continue our partnership with DART to help Dallas residents celebrate safely,” a Molson Coors representative might say. The program has become something of a New Year’s Eve tradition in several major cities, reflecting a growing emphasis on responsible celebration options.
Want to take advantage of the free ride? Simply download the DART GoPass app and enter the promotional code COORSNYE25 when booking your trip on December 31. The offer begins at 6 p.m. and continues until DART ends service for the night.
Holiday Service Changes
Beyond the New Year’s Eve promotion, DART has announced several other schedule modifications for the holiday season. While regular weekday service will run on Christmas Eve (December 24) and New Year’s Eve (December 31) with customer centers remaining open, both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day will see reduced service schedules.
On December 25 and January 1, DART buses will operate on a Sunday schedule, while light rail and Silver Line services will run on weekend schedules. Trinity Railway Express (TRE) service will be suspended entirely on these holidays. Additionally, several customer service facilities will be closed, including the Customer Relations Center, Support Center, Lost & Found, and DARTmart.
For those who rely on DART’s Paratransit services, there’s an important caveat: all subscription trips will be canceled on Christmas and New Year’s Day, with the exception of dialysis-related transportation. However, riders can still book on-demand trips as needed for these days.
Airport Travel Made Easier
Heading out of town? DART is positioning itself as the smart choice for holiday travelers, highlighting that it offers more direct airport connections than any other regional transit system in the United States.
DFW Airport terminals are accessible via multiple DART services, including the Silver Line, TEXRail, and Orange Line. Meanwhile, Love Field can be reached via the Love Link bus, which connects to the Inwood/Love Field Station served by both Orange and Green lines.
At just $3 for a one-way ticket to either airport, DART suggests the service offers substantial savings compared to parking fees, gas expenses, or rideshare costs — particularly appealing during the expensive holiday season.
Going Digital with GoPass
The New Year’s Eve promotion underscores DART’s increasing emphasis on its digital ticketing system. The GoPass app has evolved into a comprehensive transit tool, allowing riders to plan trips in real time, purchase passes, view system maps, receive service alerts, and save favorite routes.
Beyond the app, DART has expanded payment options to include reloadable GoPass Tap cards and contactless payments using credit cards or mobile devices. Registered users can also take advantage of fare capping, which ensures riders never pay more than the cost of a day pass in a single day or a monthly pass in a calendar month, regardless of how many trips they take.
As midnight approaches on December 31, thousands of Dallas residents will have one less worry thanks to the Coors Light promotion — how to get home safely after the ball drops. And in a season known for its increased travel hazards, that might be the most valuable gift of all.
