Galveston Child Kidnapping: Dallas Man Arrested for Assault, Faces Maximum Penalty

Must read

A 12-year-old girl’s evening dog walk turned into a nightmare when a Dallas man with an extensive criminal history allegedly forced her into his vehicle in Galveston, Texas, according to police. The suspect now faces multiple serious charges as authorities vow to pursue maximum sentencing.

Graham Michael Dunn, 27, was arrested on January 30, 2026, after Galveston police received a report around 9 p.m. about a missing juvenile. Police Chief Doug Balli stated that Dunn “pulled his vehicle up next to the juvenile and forced her into his vehicle before leaving the location.”

Swift Police Response

Authorities launched an immediate search operation involving multiple agencies. Using surveillance footage, they tracked Dunn to a hotel room where the girl was found. “I am thankful that our officers and all the agencies involved acted swiftly and with urgency to rescue this child,” Balli remarked following the operation.

Dunn now faces charges of kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault of a child. He’s being held in Galveston County Jail on a $500,000 bond — though prosecutors aim to ensure he remains behind bars until trial.

How did Dunn manage to be on the streets with such an extensive criminal background? At the time of his Galveston arrest, he was already a wanted man with an active Dallas County warrant. Court records show multiple probation violations stemming from a 2023 family violence case, plus three pending criminal cases in North Carolina.

Prosecutor Vows Maximum Sentencing

Galveston County District Attorney Kenneth Cusick didn’t mince words about the case. “I’ve been a prosecutor for 37 years and this is one of the most disgusting situations I’ve heard of,” Cusick told reporters. “We’re going to get a conviction on him, one or all of those charges, and we’re going to seek maximum sentencing.”

The District Attorney’s office emphasized that they’ll fight to deny any possibility of bail. “There should be no leniency for someone like this that’s proven again and again that they’re a sexual predator, preying not only on women but girls,” Cusick added.

Law enforcement officials are now investigating whether Dunn may be connected to other similar incidents across multiple jurisdictions. His history of probation violations and outstanding warrants has raised serious questions about gaps in the criminal justice system that allowed him to remain at large despite his record of legal troubles.

For now, a community breathes a sigh of relief that the victim was recovered quickly, while the justice system prepares to deal with a suspect whose alleged crimes have shocked even veteran prosecutors.
