Governor Abbott Appoints Ashley Wysocki to Dallas County 301st Court

Must read

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Judge Ashley Wysocki to the 301st Judicial District Court in Dallas County, adding another chapter to her journey through the Texas judicial system.

The appointment, announced on January 30, 2026, places Wysocki in the position until December 31, 2026. This marks her fourth judicial appointment in Dallas County, as she previously presided over the 162nd, 254th, and 44th Judicial District Courts.

“I am the Presiding Judge of the 254th Judicial District Court in Dallas County, a family court bench,” Wysocki stated during her earlier tenure, highlighting her experience in family law that likely factored into this latest appointment.

Judicial Musical Chairs

Wysocki’s movement through various Dallas County courts represents something of a judicial carousel. Most recently, she has been serving as Judge of the 44th Civil District Court, located in the George Allen Courts Building on Commerce Street.

The 301st Family District Court, where she’ll now preside, occupies the same building but on a different floor. Previously under Judge Mary Brown, the court operates out of Suite 330 on the building’s third floor.

What makes this appointment particularly noteworthy? Wysocki isn’t just settling into a new judicial role – she’s simultaneously running for higher office. She currently stands as a Republican candidate for the 5th Court of Appeals, Place 8, according to Texas judicial election records.

The timing suggests this appointment could serve as both recognition of her judicial experience and a potential platform as she seeks advancement to the appellate court. Dallas County’s judicial system has become a familiar landscape for Wysocki, who has now been appointed to courts handling both civil and family matters.

For litigants with cases in the 301st, the transition means adjusting to a new judicial philosophy, though Wysocki brings substantial family court experience from her time on the 254th bench.

The appointment continues Governor Abbott’s influence on the judicial makeup of Dallas County courts, placing Wysocki in a position to shape family law decisions through at least the end of 2026 – unless, of course, the appellate court campaign proves successful and moves her to yet another chamber in Texas’s judicial architecture.
