Governor’s Small Business Summit Carthage 2025: Resources & Networking for Texas Entrepreneurs

Must read

Governor Greg Abbott has announced the next installment of the 2025 Governor’s Small Business Summit series, slated for September 25 in Carthage, Texas. The event aims to bolster the state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by connecting small business owners with critical resources.

The summit will run from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Panola College, offering attendees a full day of networking, expert panels, and business development opportunities. More than 3.5 million small businesses currently operate across Texas, employing nearly half of all working Texans — a fact that hasn’t escaped the governor’s attention as he continues to prioritize business growth initiatives across the state.

“Small businesses are the driving force behind Texas’ thriving economy,” Abbott said in his announcement. “With more than 3.5 million small businesses across Texas, employing nearly half of all working Texans, our state continues to lead in job creation and business expansion.”

What’s on the Agenda?

The Carthage summit will feature targeted sessions covering essential aspects of business development and growth. Attendees can expect discussions on workforce strategies, scaling businesses, social media marketing, and artificial intelligence applications for small enterprises. A highlight of the day will be a fireside chat featuring successful entrepreneurs sharing their journeys and insights.

Joe Esparza, Commissioner Representing Employers at the Texas Workforce Commission, has been confirmed as a speaker, bringing his expertise on employment issues to the gathering.

The event is being hosted through a partnership between the governor’s office, the Panola County Chamber of Commerce, and the Texas Workforce Commission — a collaboration that underscores the multi-level approach Texas is taking to support its small business community.

Making It Accessible

Registration for the summit will set attendees back just $20 — a modest investment that includes access to all sessions, resource providers, lunch, and even complimentary professional headshots. It’s a practical touch for entrepreneurs who might be looking to update their business profiles or marketing materials.

Can’t make it to Carthage? The governor’s office has scheduled additional summits later in the year, including an October 23 event in Denton focusing on women in business and a November 13 gathering in Belton specifically tailored to veteran entrepreneurs.

For those unable to attend in person, the Governor’s Economic Development & Tourism Office has created alternative pathways to access similar resources. The office regularly hosts webinars sharing valuable information for small business owners, with recordings available on demand.

These initiatives reflect a broader strategy to maintain Texas’s position as a business-friendly state. With nearly half the state’s workforce employed by small businesses, the stakes couldn’t be higher for ensuring these enterprises have the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

As Texas continues to see population growth and business relocations from other states, these summits may prove crucial in helping homegrown businesses capitalize on the state’s economic momentum — especially in smaller communities like Carthage, where local entrepreneurs often have fewer networking opportunities than their counterparts in Dallas or Houston.
