Justice Ginsburg Hospitalized for Chills and Fever, Expected to Recover
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been hospitalized after experiencing chills and fever, court officials confirmed Saturday. The 86-year-old justice was admitted to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore where she’s receiving treatment for a possible infection.
The health scare began earlier Friday when Ginsburg first felt ill and sought evaluation at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. Doctors later transferred her to Johns Hopkins for more comprehensive care, where she remains under observation, according to a statement released by the Supreme Court.
Treatment Already Showing Positive Results
How serious is the justice’s condition? Court officials indicated the situation appears to be improving rapidly. “With intravenous antibiotics and fluids, her symptoms have abated,” the court stated, adding that Ginsburg “expects to be released from the hospital as early as Sunday morning.”
This isn’t the first health challenge for the court’s eldest justice. Ginsburg has faced multiple bouts with cancer and other health concerns in recent years, yet has maintained an active role on the bench throughout her treatments. Her resilience has earned her the nickname “Notorious RBG” among admirers.
