A deadly shooting in Lavon has police searching for a juvenile suspect after a man was found with multiple gunshot wounds Saturday night in a quiet Collin County subdivision.
Lavon Police officers responded to the 700 block of Wellington Drive in the Crestridge Subdivision at approximately 8:50 p.m. on December 13, 2025, where they discovered an adult male victim who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to authorities. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, identified only as a juvenile, fled the area on foot before officers arrived. Law enforcement has indicated they will not release further identifying information about the suspect due to their age, complicating the public search effort.
No Ongoing Public Threat
Despite the violent nature of the incident and the suspect remaining at large, the Lavon Police Department has moved to reassure residents. They’ve stated the shooting is not believed to pose any ongoing threat to the wider community.
What exactly led to the deadly confrontation? That remains unclear as investigators continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The tragedy has rattled the typically peaceful Crestridge neighborhood, where violent crime is uncommon. Residents expressed shock as police units descended on Wellington Drive Saturday evening.
Community Assistance Sought
Authorities are now turning to the public for help. The Lavon Police Department has requested that anyone with information or footage related to the incident submit tips by texting the keyword “LAVONPD” to 847411, followed by their information.
“Every piece of information helps,” said one officer at the scene who wasn’t authorized to speak officially. “Sometimes it’s the smallest detail that breaks a case open.”
The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, the investigation remains active as detectives continue to canvas the neighborhood and interview potential witnesses.
This marks the first homicide in Lavon this year, a sobering reminder that even smaller communities aren’t immune to violent crime.
