Pedestrian Killed on Southlake SH-114: Second Fatal Semi-Truck Crash in Two Years

Must read

A pedestrian lost his life in the early hours of Saturday morning after being struck by a semi-truck on State Highway 114 in Southlake, Texas, marking the second fatal incident along the same stretch of highway in recent years.

Just before 4:00 a.m., Southlake Police and Fire units rushed to the scene in the 1100 block of eastbound SH-114 where they discovered the victim had been hit by an 18-wheeler following what authorities believe was an earlier single-vehicle crash, according to Fox 4 reports.

The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators determined he had first been involved in a separate accident nearby before the fatal collision with the semi-truck, DFW Scanner confirmed.

Pattern of Tragedy

Saturday’s incident bears a striking resemblance to a fatal crash that occurred almost exactly one year ago. In January 2025, 25-year-old Trevon Anthony Davis was killed in nearly identical circumstances when he was struck by a semi-truck on the same highway in Southlake, as documented by Sweet Law.

The eerie similarity between these two incidents raises questions about pedestrian safety along this stretch of SH-114, which is primarily designed for high-speed vehicle traffic with limited pedestrian infrastructure.

What happens when someone exits their vehicle after a crash on a high-speed highway? That’s the dangerous scenario that appears to have unfolded twice now on this same roadway.

Local officials haven’t yet indicated whether they’ll consider additional safety measures along this corridor, but the repeat occurrence suggests a potential need for improved emergency response protocols for disabled vehicles.

The westbound lanes of SH-114 remained closed for several hours while investigators processed the scene, causing significant traffic delays during the early morning hours.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding both the initial crash and the subsequent fatal collision. The driver of the semi-truck reportedly remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

For now, this stretch of highway stands as a somber reminder of how quickly a roadside emergency can turn deadly — especially in the vulnerable moments following an initial accident.
