Israel to Intensify Offensive Across Gaza

Must read

Israel launched a new military campaign called Operation Might and Sword against Gaza, effectively ending the 2025 ceasefire agreement and resulting in over 400 Palestinian casualties, including 263 women and children.

The surprise offensive began with coordinated strikes between Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the United States, marking one of the deadliest phases in the ongoing Gaza conflict.

“Hamas could have released hostages to extend the cease-fire, but instead chose refusal and war,” stated White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt in comments to Fox News.

The military operation has expanded beyond initial targets, with Israel maintaining control of the Philadelphi Corridor in southern Gaza and portions of Rafah since May 2024. Defense Minister Israel Katz has taken a firm stance on the offensive, directing the IDF to seize additional territories while evacuating civilians.

The IDF’s 36th Division is currently conducting operations in sparsely populated areas between Khan Yunis and Rafah, while issuing evacuation orders to Gaza residents in Arabic, particularly focusing on northern coastal regions since March 18.

The humanitarian toll continues to mount, with at least 855 Palestinians killed and over 1,869 wounded since the collapse of the ceasefire. Notable infrastructure damage includes the destruction of a Gaza City prison in the Al-Shati refugee camp, resulting in thirty-six fatalities among prisoners and guards.

Diplomatic efforts continue through various channels, including a proposal by Witkoff suggesting Hamas release five living and ten dead Israeli hostages in exchange for Israel lifting its blockade and freeing Palestinian prisoners.

The expanding military operations have also impacted civilian facilities, with the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry reporting 19 casualties from an Israeli strike on an UNRWA clinic.

As the situation develops, international attention remains focused on civilian protection and potential diplomatic solutions to the escalating conflict.
