Texas Increases Reward to $8,500 for Capture of Convicted Child Predator

Must read

Texas authorities have raised the stakes in their hunt for a convicted child predator, offering an increased reward for information leading to his arrest. William Herrera Zamora, a 63-year-old Cuban national with a history of child pornography convictions, has been named the state’s Featured Fugitive for December 2025.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has announced an $8,500 reward for tips received this month that help locate Herrera Zamora, who has been on the run since violating his parole conditions in 2022.

A Disturbing History

Herrera Zamora’s criminal record paints a troubling picture. In January 2019, he was convicted on 10 counts of possession with intent to promote child pornography and sentenced to five years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility. After serving just two years, he was released on parole in January 2021.

That freedom didn’t last long. By June 2022, Grapevine Police had issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of indecency with a child by sexual contact. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles simultaneously issued a warrant for parole violation, and by January 2023, Fort Worth Police had filed two additional counts against him for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

Where is he now? That’s the question authorities are desperate to answer, and they’re hoping the increased reward will loosen lips.

Identifying the Fugitive

Herrera Zamora stands 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He has a distinctive tattoo on his upper left arm, a scar on his abdomen, and frequently wears glasses, according to law enforcement descriptions.

Investigators note he’s known to use several aliases, including Augusto Castillo Flores, Guillermo Herrera Zamora, and William Herrera — potentially complicating efforts to locate him.

“The reward for information leading to his arrest is increased to $8,500 during December if the tip is received this month,” a DPS spokesperson stated, underscoring the urgency of the manhunt.

Public Safety Warning

Authorities have issued a stern warning to the public: Herrera Zamora is considered armed and dangerous. “Do not attempt to apprehend these fugitives,” the DPS cautions. Instead, anyone spotting him should immediately contact law enforcement.

This case represents part of a broader effort by Texas authorities to apprehend dangerous offenders. In 2025 alone, the DPS and partner agencies have arrested 63 individuals from the Texas 10 Most Wanted lists, including 26 sex offenders and 13 criminal illegal immigrants. The department has distributed $41,000 in rewards for tips that led to arrests.

How to Submit Tips

For those with information on Herrera Zamora’s whereabouts, authorities have established specific channels to report tips while maintaining anonymity. Tipsters can call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477), submit information through the DPS website, or use the Texas 10 Most Wanted Facebook page.

“All tips are anonymous – regardless of how they are submitted – and tipsters will be provided a tip number instead of using a name,” officials emphasized. This anonymity is guaranteed by law, ensuring that those who come forward face no risk of exposure.

As the hunt for Herrera Zamora intensifies, authorities hope the increased financial incentive will bring forward the crucial information needed to remove a dangerous predator from Texas streets before he can harm another child.
