Bexar County: Missing Teens Update—Body Found, Search Continues

Must read

The search for three missing teenagers in Bexar County took a heartbreaking turn this week when authorities discovered the body of 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos, while the fate of another teen remains uncertain and a third was found safe.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar confirmed Wednesday that a body found during the search operation is believed to be that of Olmos, who had been missing from her northwest Bexar County home. “Although it is still too early to definitively say it is her, the body that we found, or what happened to that body that caused the death, I feel personally, feel strongly, that it is her,” Salazar stated during a Facebook Live video. “Certainly a heartbreaking case.”

Three Teens, Three Different Outcomes

The grim discovery comes amid what authorities are calling a devastating week, with three separate missing teen cases unfolding almost simultaneously. While Olmos’ case appears to have ended tragically, 14-year-old Sofia Gabriela Peters-Cobos was found safe. Meanwhile, the search continues for 17-year-old Angelique Johnson, who remains missing.

Investigators found the body approximately 100 yards from Olmos’ residence in northwest Bexar County. Officials have indicated no foul play is suspected in her death, which appears to be a suicide, according to reports.

What makes these cases particularly unusual? The timing — three teens reported missing in under a week — has stretched resources thin for the Sheriff’s Office while raising concerns throughout the community.

The body was discovered on property belonging to Burnin’ Bush Landscaping Company, which temporarily closed its doors out of respect for the ongoing investigation. The business’s cooperation highlights the community response as authorities worked to locate the missing teens.

“It’s been a heartbreaking week,” Sheriff Salazar added, reflecting the emotional toll these cases have taken on both families and first responders alike.

As the community processes these developments, attention now turns to the ongoing search for Angelique Johnson, the 17-year-old who remains unaccounted for, while families and authorities alike hope for her safe return.
